Garðskagi
, the "toe" of the Reykjanes peninsula in south-west Iceland, is home to two lighthouses dating from 1897 and 1944. Still often open to visitors, the older was used until recently as a centre for studying the thousands of seabirds which migrate there each year to breed on the surrounding rocks. Seals are often visible on reefs and rocks.
